Do not listen to or follow this advise. For red, blue, or green loctite you should only use enough to cover a few threads. All bolts being different that amount will vary. On medium sized hardware a drop the size of a pea is more then enough. This method shown here is wasteful and if the threaded section is sealed at the bottom then you will hydraulic the bolt and never get a true torque.

Misleading!!! You are hydro locking your threads. They can crack eventually. Also you won’t be able to torque the bolts correctly.

That's a good way to break shit! You can't put very much of any kinda of shit (oil, grease, thread locker, antisieze) in a bolt that ain't a pass through because it'll make hydraulic pressure and crack the hole especially cast iron shit.

I worked for a company that used a lot of Loctite. Guy came in from Loctite selling Loctite and one of his presentations was he came in, in the morning and was talking about Loctite he had a cup of hot coffee and he grabbed the red Loctite and Emptied out a whole bottle in his coffee & stirred it up and drank it. Then he says by the way Loctite is not made from any hazardous materials. it’s not poison and it will not hurt you. He said it was made from different types of fruit extract the acid in the fruit is what holds the bolt from turning it bonds to the bolt and threads & it hardens from the sugars.

A hydro lock, B a thin line is enough. The mechanical torque is what actually holds in a bolt, and if it isn’t, well it’s not an application where it’s gonna loosen by pulling. TLDR Thread lock stops loosening from vibration or LIGHT loads kinda trying to unthread

This must be one of those, do it intentionally wrong so people share it to comment "what an idiot" videos. Lol that's way too much threadlocker... It should not ooze out or fill the area beneath the screw. It can make plastics brittle and is meant for metal to metal contact. If used so it flows outside the screw area, you're damaging the area around the screws.

This might be an off brand hence the excessive need of thread lock. I been educated from a henkel loctite representative for an engineering need to know understanding and Loctite sets up when there’s no air which is because it’s anaerobic. Though extensive testing we also found out parts don’t cure as fast (takes days) with excessive loctite and becomes less effective when thinking it’s cured in 24hrs -48hrs (temperature changes cure time) as stated on the bottle. It’s best to put some on the threads on both ends If it’s a blind hole due to trapped air pushing the liquid state back up (air movement you can see in the demo) but on a through hole it’s not as necessary.

  82. Josh R

Just so people know as other people have said this is incorrect. If you have too much liquid in a hole that you're trying to put a bolt in it could blow out or crack the bottom of the hole like an aluminum case and then you're screwed and then you got to buy a new part, you can't compress liquid, you can't compress oil, you can't compress Grease.
